Acoustic Guitar Technique Exercise

Ivon Tan has been teaching Acoustic Guitar since he was 16 years old. In these 11 years of teaching, he has also taught other instruments such as Bass Guitar, Electric Guitar, Drum, Ukulele, etc. Through years of teaching experience, his style of teaching has been known to be versatile and can be tailored to student’s interests, learning speed, and talent. Many students had

achieved their goal of learning and even go beyond their expectations through his enriching, exciting and fulfilling teaching method. He has successfully trained many musicians which one of them, Melvyn Gnai, just at the age of 15, has won First Place in the American Protégé Music Talent Competition 2016. Ivon has also inspired many other students who are now successful as music teachers and musicians. However, most importantly, he makes sure his students enjoy playing music as well as develop musicianship, regardless of playing any kind of musical instruments Currently, he collaborated with Rockschool Asia on an Acoustic Guitar Book series, which is written based on the Rockschool Acoustic Guitar syllabus and his teaching experience. This book series provides acoustic guitar teachers to have better guidance in teaching as well as acoustic guitar students to have systematic learning in playing and developing musicianship. Launched in 2018, he is now providing workshops to teachers from many music schools on how to teach not just by using his book but also on other various musicianship topics such as rhythm, harmony, groove, band knowledge, etc. Ivon has the passion to continue his career as a music educator, not by just sharing his musical knowledge, but also his vision to improve the level of music education in Malaysia.
